2023 Acura RDX vs 2023 Acura MDX

Serving Memphis, TN

The Acura SUV lineup carries premium options like the small RDX and the midsize MDX. These elite models are strong contenders for today’s drivers who expect a balanced combination of luxury and advanced performance capabilities behind the wheel. Our Acura of Memphis sales associates are often asked about the critical differences between these highly-rated models. What should you be aware of before making your next crossover SUV purchase?

The 2023 Acura RDX is exclusively offered with one powertrain. This 272-horsepower engine is a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged unit associated with an automatic 10-speed transmission. Most trims have front-wheel drive, but the top two options have all-wheel drive. Higher trims may also be available with adaptive suspension dampers. The 2023 Acura MDX, on the other hand, is available with two powertrains. The base engine in most trims is a 290-horsepower, V6, 3.5-liter unit that pairs with a 10-speed auto transmission. The top two MDX trims benefit from a turbo 3.0-liter, V6, 355-horsepower engine. These trims also have sport-tuned all-wheel drive, Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned transmission, and an adaptive air suspension.

The RDX is a two-row model defined on the exterior by decadent angles and athletic accentuation. The chrome-adorned, pentagon-style grille curves across the nose, flanked by premium headlights featuring a segmented LED light ribbon. Metal trim runs along the entire lower perimeter of the vehicle and across the raked side windows. The MDX is a three-row SUV with a more significant presence on the road. Its nose crests into a crisp, vertical line, and the grille has a subtle upward curve. The headlights are comparable to the RDX’s but are underscored by a bent LED light bar. The front fascia also features deep air intakes and chrome-accented foglight ports.

The 2023 RDX and the 2023 MDX are wonderfully outfitted with many desired features, including many shared features. These include a surround-view camera, a heated steering wheel, heated seats in the first and second rows, a head-up display, leather seating, ambient cabin lighting, a wireless charging pad, parking sensors, a navigation system, adaptive cruise control, a touch control pad for the central display screen, a wireless internet hotspot and others. The MDX also offers a third row of seats with USB ports, household power outlets in the second row, a surround-view camera, and a few other items.
