In 2021, the Acura TLX gets a refreshed design that kicks off the luxury sedan’s second generation of production. The latest TLX features comprehensive changes from the ground up and inside out. The car’s frame is more prominent this year with a longer and wider wheelbase. The elongated structure provides more passenger space and cargo capacity along with giving the TLX a performance edge and a more commanding presence. The Acura adds a sporty trim to its lineup this year, which also brings a boost in power. Inside, the Acura features a more upscale with the addition of luxury materials and more top-notch technology. The 2021 TLX surpasses the 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, a top rival in performance, interior space, cargo capacity, and value.


Performance gets a boost in 2021 for the Acura TLX, which comes with a newly available turbo engine on the Type S trim that is also new this year. The Type S has a powerful engine capable of delivering 355 HP in power, paired with a torque capacity of 354 LB-FT. The base engine for the TLX, which powers the other trims, is a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder. With this engine, the TLX gets 272 HP in power output and 280 LB-FT for torque. You’ll get a 10-speed transmission with the Acura, compared to a nine-speed transmission with the Mercedes C-Class. Additionally, the Acura’s maximum power output exceeds that of the C-Class, which tops out at 255 HP.


The Acura TLX’s cabin is impressive for its passenger volume and upscale features following the 2021 redesign. With the TLX, you’ll get some of the largest and most comfortable seats available on a small luxury sedan. The TLX also excels for its legroom in the back row and generous headroom in both rows. The Acura has over 13 cubic feet of storage space in the trunk, which is more than you’ll get with the Mercedes. The 2021 Acura TLX also has a large, user-friendly infotainment screen, while the infotainment features and controls on the Mercedes can be finicky and difficult to use.


Considering all the standard features and amenities it offers, the 2021 TLX has tremendous value. You’ll get many of the same or similar amenities per trim level that the Mercedes-Benz provides, but at a better price.
