2020 Acura MDX vs 2020 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid

Serving Memphis, TN

The Acura MDX is a luxury three-row SUV that has been growing in popularity among drivers. Recently, a Sport Hybrid variation of the vehicle became available. The team here at Acura of Memphis would like to take a moment to explain how these vehicles differ from each other, as well as the ways that they are the same.

Performance

As you might guess, one of the main differences between these two vehicles involves the powertrain. For the standard 2020 Acura MDX, there is a 3.5L V6 engine that is ready to produce 290-horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque for you. Paired with this engine is a nine-speed automatic. You can choose between front-wheel and all-wheel-drive variations of this vehicle. Moving on to the MDX Sport Hybrid, you will find a 3.0L V6 that works beautifully with three electric motors. The result here is 321-horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. Going with this model means getting a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive standard.

Appearance

When you take into consideration the fact that these vehicles mostly differ in performance features, it is not surprising that they look very similar from the outside. They both feature strong front fascias, including a distinctive Acura grille. They are both also available in a variety of striking colors, such as Lunar Silver, Performance Red, and Fathom Blue.

Features

Both the MDX and MDX Sport Hybrid are loaded with luxury features. For the MDX, you will find five USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, and a 7-inch touchscreen. There are also many driver aids to be found here, including adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The MDX Sport Hybrid has a slightly longer list of standard features. It adds both a navigation system and front and rear parking sensors, for example. Also found here is an upgraded audio system that features 10-speakers. You can use this system to listen to the standard HD radio you’ll find here. Other noteworthy standard features for this vehicle include blind-spot monitoring and a color driver information display. These features can all be added to the MDX as well as part of a package.
